General FAQ’s:

What is the race room all about?

The RACE ROOM is a motorsport destination featuring 4 Full Motion Professional Grade Racing simulators for rent by the hour, half day or full day for individuals, corporate and private functions.

How does it work?

The simulation is brought to you by iRacing, a server based platform that provides a selection of over 70 different tracks from around the world and 42 different race cars. Tracks are some of the more renowned from around the world. Road courses and ovals, Super Speedway, long and short are available.  When racing, the simulation rules are the same as the real world; complete with black flags, yellow flags, blue flags, pit stops, strategy calls, etc.

What if I don’t know much or anything about driving race cars?

Not to worry! Your orientation video will cover some driving techniques and skills that will help you get get up to speed quickly. Our staff will take care of you, give you pointers on your driving and most importantly make sure your having a great time.

What types of cars are available to race?

The selection is vast, Indy cars (road course and super speedway aero configurations) , F1, Daytona Prototypes, Stock car, GT cars, Radicals, Legends, Pro Mazda, Skip Barber f2000, Sedans, Open Cockpit, IMCA. If it races on asphalt you can most likely find it here. We have over 42 different types and styles of race cars to choose from. In essence, we can put you and your group into a car that will satisfy your car selection.

Do we race against a clock, by ourselves or against other racers?

All of the above. We can set up a private session for just you that will reflect your lap times against the fastest lap that has been turned on the track and race car you are in. We can set up a session with multiple car types and multiple drivers on the track racing each other. We can set up a session that features one car type and have you race against others in your group. To build a larger grid we can invite racers from all around the world to join you. iRacing is a server based platform that has servers in Boston, Amsterdam and in Australia. You can literally race at the same time against drivers from all over the world in all different types and styles of race cars. Most important is that you can race, other drivers in the same cars, wheel to wheel!

Can I join a racing series and race at the Race Room on a regular basis?

Yes you can. iRacing offers series racing in all classes of race cars. There is a staged licensing process that will allow you to train and learn how to sim race with others at the same level as you. As you get better and your license class moves from rookie to D to C to B to A the selection of race cars get more powerful and more demanding to drive. The Race Room is open evenings and weekends for series racing. But just because you don’t have, say an F1 race license, we can still put you in an F1 car, invite others to come and join the race you have just hosted (if you want).

What can I expect from the race cars?

All the race cars in iRacing are modeled after the REAL WORLD race cars. Vehicle dynamics of the car are also abundant. Set up changes to the race car are the same as in REAL WORLD. Change castor, camber, tire pressures, spring rates, sway bars, gear ratio’s aero settings, throttle shapes, brake bias to name only a few. If in the REAL WORLD the race car allows an adjustment, so to does the race car in iRacing. You can make a car do many things, under steer, over steer, tight on turn in, loose on corner exit. We can set the race car up just how you like it..

What makes the simulators at the Race Room special?

To start with all our simulators are Full Motion, designed by REAL World race car guys with the real world race car seating positions. This may not seem like much but it is important. We use Cobra, Sparco, Randy LaJoie, Butler race car seats. Our sims feature Hydraulic brakes and clutches, formula 1 simulator steering wheel force back servo motors, real world race car steering wheels, brake foot box’s that don’t flex when you push on the bakes. Brakes pedals are spaced as they would be in the REAL WORLD race car. Take the GT sim in example. A technique used in GT racing to slow the car is Heel Toe braking. Our GT sim offers pedal spacing just as you will find in a GT race car. Brake pedal spaced closer to the throttle to allow the roll off of your foot from the brake on to the throttle for the blip. In our Formula sims we offer 2 pedal and three pedal foot box’s, clutch on the wheel and clutch on the floor. Paddle shift or lever. The formula sims also offer the correct, more extended seating position that you find in open wheel formula cars. In fact, our formula chassis are near replicas of the REAL world open wheel race cars we race and rent.

Do we require special clothing or shoes?

No, however we recommend you wear flat and narrow shoes for best pedal feel.

How many people can race at once?

4 people can be racing at any given time. However we can host up to 16 people with our team racing programs.

Will I experience motion sickness?

There is a slim chance that you will experience motion sickness.  And if you wear Progressive lenses we advise that you wear your contacts. Progressive Lenses have a tendency to enhance the symptoms or bring on motion sickness when you are in the motion simulators. We find about 1 in every 50 drivers will experience some symptoms.  If your worried about becoming sick or you are prone to motion sickness you may want to take a Gravol or  related product before you head over and bring one or two with you.  We’ve found when drivers take one before and one during (if needed) little or no symptoms of motion sickness occur.
